Steve Shewmaker is the president of Cubic Transportation Systems worldwide and has overall responsibility for the company’s global business, which includes the U.S., Europe, the Far East and Australia. In 2013, he was appointed an executive vice president for Cubic Corporation.
A Cubic executive for more than 20 years, Steve served as managing director for the company’s UK operations from 2006 to 2009, during which time he had overall responsibility for Cubic’s interests in the UK and mainland Europe transportation markets. In 2008, Steve was instrumental in securing one of the company's most significant deals, the Future Ticketing Agreement with Transport for London, Cubic's current operations and maintenance contract for the entire Oyster Card system.
For a significant part of his Cubic career, he was senior vice president of business development with responsibility for winning new business internationally. These contracts included the first smart card technology projects in the U.S. such as the systems for the Washington DC Metro and Chicago and the landmark Oyster Card system in London, as well as projects in China, Australia, Canada and Germany. He became president of Cubic Transportation Systems in 2008.
Since taking over as president in 2008, Steve has led the company's growth from approximately $300 million in fiscal year 2008 to over $500 million in fiscal year 2012.
For every year he has been president, Cubic Transportation Systems has improved customer relations while also delivering record financial results.
In 2012 California Governor Jerry Brown appointed Steve to the San Diego County Fair Board, which is best known for organizing the annual San Diego County Fair, one of the largest fairs in the country.
He received his bachelor's degree in communications/business from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.
