Wolf is very familiar with the German and European public transport business and is widely regarded as an expert in business development and strategy in electronic ticketing / mobile ticketing and mobile business. He has been implementing and modeling ticketing systems since the 1990s. He led the accompanying research of ticketing pilots and performed acceptance research for ticketing devices. 

Prior to his appointment with Cubic and after leaving his position in mobility research he worked for Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, T-Systems and Volkswagen, among other companies. 

He earned a doctoral degree from Ruhr-University Bochum. Wolf has served on a variety of mobility and smartcard related groups like kontiki, Forschungsgesellschaft für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen und Deutsche Verkehrswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft.
