Tim Cook
Engineering Director
Tim Cook is engineering director for Cubic Transportation Systems’ Australasian region. One of the company’s most experienced smart card ticketing system specialists, Tim is responsible for all engineering and development in the Asia/Pacific region.
Previously chief engineer at Cubic’s San Diego headquarters, Tim was seconded to Australia, where he played a major role in the Cubic-led Pearl consortium’s successful bid to win, and ultimate award of, the contract for Sydney’s new smart card ticketing system.
Tim now leads a rapidly growing team of engineers designing and installing an integrated London-style ticketing system for buses, ferries and trains across the greater Sydney region, and is building an engineering team to provide support to our other customers in the Asia Pacific region.
Among his career highlights was developing the back office system for one of Cubic’s most challenging smart card ticketing projects – the Oyster® Card system in London. Today the back office developed by Tim handles in excess of 14 million transactions daily. Subsequently, he established and led the central systems team that developed Nextfare®, the central computer platforms used in many Cubic systems today, including the go card system in Brisbane, Australia.
Tim graduated with honours in physics with astrophysics from the University of Leads, UK.
