Nextcity is Cubic’s vision for the future of transport technology. The goal for Nextcity is an integrated, multi-modal urban travel payment and information platform.
Nextcity envisions a more efficient way of regulating, planning and informing all modes of travel within a given region, by mining and using payment and information data to educate and manage travelers’ choices through the provision of integrated real-time information and dynamic pricing.
The full deployment of Nextcity will occur over time, and is evolving from the same DNA as our signature Nextfare smartcard payments platform now in use of many of the world’s major transit systems.
Part of our vision for Nextcity is aimed at regional transit operators, both public and private, to cooperate in helping to regulate demand by setting fees across all modes within a region. The second part of our vision will help the travelers. How? The data gathered from analyzing fare payment patterns will allow people both traveling by road and public transit to better manage how and when they travel. They will be able to access up-to-the-minute travel information to help them decide when and what mode of transportation that would be more convenient for them to use based on congestion and/or service interruptions.
To realize this vision will require the integration of several new products in Cubic’s solution portfolio that fall under the parent brand Nextcity.
