January 02, 2013 - Transportation
With 2012 in the books, it’s the time of year when many of us look back and reflect on the experiences and achievements of the past twelve months.
For Cubic, 2012 stands out as one in which we have garnered accolades from our industry peers, with the common theme being one of exceptional service delivery.
In January, Cubic was presented with a certificate of appreciation by Australian passenger rail operator RailCorp, while just a couple of months later, we scooped the top award at the 2012 International Transport Forum for outstanding work in introducing Oyster® to the National Rail Network in London. At the same time, our customer RMV topped one million transit tickets sold in Frankfurt using Cubic’s smartphone app and mobile ticketing solution.
And it didn't stop there: in the autumn we were delighted to be recognized further, winning the 2012 SESAMES Award in the category of Trusted Internet/Authentication for our Mobile Point of Sale app at the CARTES event in Paris, within a week of warding off fierce competition in the ITS World Congress 2012 video competition to take first place with our Nextcity promotional video.
But our greatest achievement this past year, if not to date, was undoubtedly Cubic’s collaboration with Transport for London (TfL) to deliver successful transportation for London 2012 - no small feat considering more than 60 million journeys were made on the Tube alone during the Olympics. Check out our post-Olympic video: Olympic 100 Days of Service.
The New Year promises much for Cubic and what better way to start than with a celebration as we mark the 150th anniversary of the London Underground in our capacity as lead industry sponsor. A particular highlight will be the weekend of January 11th – January 13th when a specially restored steam train will recreate the first ever Underground journey in January 1863.
We look forward to bringing you news of this and much more from Cubic here on our blog, so stay tuned in 2013.
